Missing word
Available nowThe strongest format: you see a sentence with a blank and type the word yourself. It sticks best this way, and later it comes to mind on its own in conversation.
How it works
From the simplest words to advanced ones. Words you already know clear out fast, so your time goes to what you don't.
You see the word's meaning and a sentence with a blank, then type the word yourself. Can't remember? Check anyway: the correct word appears in the field and you type it once.
A word comes back for review just as it starts to fade. Each time a little less often, until it sticks for good.
Trainers
At your desk, on the subway or out for a walk, there's a format for each. They all use the same words, so your progress is shared.

A light mode for warming up or practicing one-handed: three options, one tap. Handy for a quick run through new words on the go.
Put on your headphones and practice on a walk, behind the wheel or while cleaning. Listen to the prompt and answer out loud, and your pronunciation gets a workout too.
How many words you have learned, how many are still in progress and which ones are due for review. Each skill has its own percent, so you can see where you are heading.

You meet every word in a real sentence and see right away how it's used.
Words you remember well don't eat up your time. Words that are starting to fade show up just in time.
We show the correct answer right away, you fix it, and you remember it better than if you had simply guessed.
Yes. The very first course starts with simple everyday words, and all hints and translations are in Russian.
One session takes about five minutes. You can do more, but the point is a little, every day.
Nothing is lost: your words and progress are saved, and the words that are due for review come first in your next session.
We use FSRS, a modern open-source spaced repetition algorithm. It is trained on a huge body of real review data and is built into Anki, the most popular flashcard app, used by medical students and polyglots all over the world.
For each word, FSRS looks at your answers to estimate how firmly you remember it, then schedules the next review for the day your chance of recalling it drops to about 90%. A word that comes easily returns much later; a word you stumbled on comes back within days.
Why it matters: review too often and you waste time, too rarely and the word is forgotten. FSRS finds the moment in between, so you remember as much as with older flashcard systems while doing noticeably fewer reviews.
